| Art Tiles created by Excelsior Residents at the 2007 Excelsior Festival March - April, 2008 The 45 tiles that make up this eclectic installation were created by Excelsior residents (mostly kids and their parents) at the 2007 Excelsior Festival. Organized by Excelsior artists and residents Andrea Hassiba, Joanna Schnier, Paige Nittler, and Grace D’Anca, the collaborative exercise resulted in a mosaic of found-objects adhered to old cd jewel cases. Nails and bolts embellish broken costume jewelry and plastic spiders get lost in miniature cities bordered by neon green zippers. Proceeds from sales of this exhibition benefit New Eden Projects, a group of volunteers who offer time, energy, and ideas to support cultural events in the space at Mamá Art Cafe, especially events that encourage creativity and education in the local youth. |
