The Sea and Shadows: Photographs by Tamara Danoyan
April 10 - May 2, 2010
Photographs in Tamara Danoyan’s exhibition at Mamá Art Cafe capture the magic hours of the day when the sea glitters like starlight, abstract silhouettes materialize within the urban landscape, and our shadows stretch the length of the beach. She poetically describes her creative process “Some days are gray and empty, no images are born on those days. Others feel like a treasure hunt, the treasures might be there or not, but there is no way of knowing, until the destination is reached. And then, there are days filled with color, shapes, a play of light and shadows. Images are everywhere, wanting to be found; moments and moods waiting to be captured and stopped in time. These days are my favorite.”
In 2006, Tamara moved to Sydney, Australia, and took classes at the Australian Centre for Photography. In 2007 she returned to the Bay Area and continued studying photography at Foothill College.
