Painters Cubed: Paintings by Three Local Artists
Rafael Landea, Todd Brown, and Jose Mondragon

December 2004 - January 2005

Rafael Landea's theatrical paintings from his Deus Ex Machina series explore the Latin phrase, which refers to a god, in Greek and Roman drama, that was lowered by stage machinery to resolve a plot or extricate the protagonist from a difficult situation. Tango is the subject of Todd Brown's paintings that successfully convey the importance of connection between dancers. Jose Mondragon draws on memories from his childhood in El Salvador to create cubist-influenced paintings on wood and canvas.
