Heike Seefeldt: Mixed-Media Collages
March - April, 2008

Heike Seefeldt is originally from Germany and has been working as a professional scenic artist since graduating from the University of Fine Arts in Dresden, Germany.  The recent work of this exhibition explores the idea of the “Superhero.”  Each piece is dedicated to a different icon or “Super-Symbol,” such as a Patron Saint from a shrine candle, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Superman.  The “Superheroes” of Seefeldt’s work are repeated in her grids, referencing the ways in which society continues to return to these symbols to seek “orientation and guidance.”
