The Art of Embrace
New Work by Marina Sirota
June - July 2008

As it is customary, Mamá Art Cafe seeks to bring international artists to the venue. In this occasion Marina Sirota, a native Russian, and fellow alumn of Lincoln High School was selected to share her work. Sirota is a third year Ph.D. student in the Biomedical Informatics department at Stanford University. Her paintings of both botanical specimens and dancers mid-movement are informed by both her academic foundation in biology and her experiences of living in multi-ethnic environments. Her first exhibition at Mamá Art Cafe showcases her paintings and drawings of tango and flamenco dancers. The focus of many of her works is the embrace, the core technical and emotional element of Argentine Tango
