Benjamin Smith’s often whimsical and playful work seeks to achieve balance. Mobiles inherently strive for this but the materials Smith selected for the hanging sculptures create an equal partnership between the natural and the man-made. Recent paintings represent what one sees when he closes his eyes - an impossible moment to reduce to canvas. The result is a series of vibrant studies of color play.
