Beloved Mascots & Andean Soul by Luis Valverde December 2008 Luis Valverde Yunganina was born in 1942 in Lima Peru and started painting when he was six. He naturally began his self-taught practice inspired by Rogelio Mamani Tapia from Puno, an artist that used to live in his family's home. His art is influenced by experiences from his native town of Lima, Peru, where he gathered all the folklore that characterizes his work.Today Luis Valverde paints full-time in his art studio in San Francisco California. He has exhibited in group and solo shows in Peru and USA. |
